The vast majority of these farms are owned and controlled by individuals and families. As such, farm insurance needs are more consistently that of what is known as the ‘small or hobby farmer’. Routinely, they are engaged in classic personal activities and are best protected by policies that address their personal uncertainties. Often they are engaging in business pursuits and their uncertainties must be addressed with policies that more align with their commercial coverage needs. This presentation will focus on property risks faced by this group of entrepreneurs – both personal and commercial.
